Working alongside Meyer Davis, Indiewalls curated artwork for the 489 room hotel located in Manhattan’s Garment District. Looking to the neighborhood for aesthetic inspiration, the ARLO Midtown pays homage–in both subtle and dramatic ways–to the neighborhood’s rich history and deep ties to the fashion world. The rooftop mural by famed Chilean artist Nelson Cekis takes the concept of the ‘urban jungle’ to new heights and the interior art curation features large-scale abstract works by Chicago-based artist Urszula Gogol that live in the sophisticated seating area, a striking elevator bank, and throughout the buzzing eatery Nearly Ninth Bar & Lounge. The guestrooms feature gestural works by Julia Di Sano that evoke tranquility through color palette and composition. The presidential suite is elegance incarnate with sweeping views of midtown Manhattan, and breakout rooms on the first floor features gallery walls with complementary works, providing a perfect respite in the midst of the bustling garment district.
