Indiewalls curated the artwork collection throughout the public areas, coffee bar & lounge at Sheraton Phoenix Downtown. The art curation on site features a diverse range of materials and influences that aesthetically weave together sleek modernism with Phoenix's rich heritage. Hotel guests can unwind beneath two monumental hanging sculptures by Grace Teng, which are elegantly suspended above the bar and a portion of the lobby. A signature hand-painted “canvas with movement” piece by textile artist Lauren Williams hangs near a nature inspired abstract print by artist Kim Knoll. Using materiality in the form of coppers, wood joinery, and weaving as inspiration, a selection of carefully curated artists from around the country created timeless pieces that pay homage to this bustling desert metropolis through a contemporary lens.
“There were so many parties that needed to be involved… the contractors, the architects, the designers, the owners… Indiewalls was really fantastic at making sure everybody was communicating. It became a very collaborative design piece… we were in such constant communication with Indiewalls and the artist [and] it all just really flowed very smoothly.”
