Over 1,500 artworks of a broad range of mediums were curated for the hotel, inspired by two key themes - The feeling of a “secret garden” inspired by the hotel’s proximity to New York City’s flower district, and references to the vintage flea market, in a nod to the property’s location at the historic site of the Antiques Garage Flea Market.
A site-specific installation of 4,000 refurbished vintage door knobs, knockers, keyholes, cuckoo-clocks and other assorted objects flank the hotel’s grand staircase.
One element of the Renaissance brand is discovery. So we wanted to have lots of moments throughout the hotel where visitors would 'look and look again.'
