At Hotel Landy, you won’t find the classic cartoon characters you'd expect in an Orlando Hotel—but you’ll meet someone just as cool: a pretend scientist who’s a master at roller coaster math. This scientist invented ways to make rides faster, loopier, and wilder, and the whole hotel is designed around her world. Here, the art is meant to make you feel like you're living inside an inventor’s workshop, with a glimpse to her books, her formulas and her experiments.
A Peek-A-Boo Moment
As you explore the hotel, you’ll notice how this story unfolds in the artwork. In the lobby, a sculpture made entirely of books creates a captivating peek-a-boo moment, inviting guests to lean in and discover hidden details. Designed for interaction, the sculpture reveals cut-out spaces within the stacks, perfect for a playful photo op.
For guests with a sharp eye, a hidden easter egg awaits in the atrium. Tucked into the wall design is a special physics equation—the formula that calculates the force needed to keep a roller coaster on its tracks. It’s a clever nod to the hotel’s story and its imagined physicist, adding a layer of science to the creativity that makes Hotel Landy unique.
"In the lounge, we worked with an artist who used collage and letterpress to create a wall covering that subtly spells out the letters of 'Orlando,' weaving the city’s identity into the artwork in a unique, abstract way."
