Instead, it embraces works that tell a deeper story through texture, form, and material. Like artist Marija Markovic who uses weaving techniques to create textural pieces using jute and cotton rope to reference the traditional kapa patterning of the region. Similarly, artist Emily Mann used carefully cut and assembled canvas and screen printing inspired by local flora & fauna along with Hawaiian art history and culture.
