Challenges of Scaling Custom Art Nationwide

Extensive Workplace Art Needs

Allspring - a $500B wealth management company - was planning an extensive renovation process for dozens of offices in the US and abroad.

Complex Logistics

A single vendor was needed to manage logistics efficiently at scale - nationally and abroad - working with each individual office within their respective renovation schedule.

Custom Local Art

Each office was to have a custom and distinctive art collection, drawing from local artists of that city, but maintaining a consistent brand voice and aesthetic.

Indiewalls’ Process for a Nationwide Custom Art Program

Design Kickoff and Setting National Vision

Deep dive to understand Allspring’s brand identity, interior design aesthetic, and overall goals of the art program - to enhance their offices with fine art while telling a local story and supporting emerging artists.

The plan: for each office to  receive commissioned artwork from local artists pinpointed by Indiewalls, along with several artworks from Artist Ambassadors of the brand whose works would be featured across several offices.

Assigning a Team to the Partnership

Successfully executing a large-scale workplace art program demands broad expertise in fine art curation, artist management, custom production, and sourcing, while adhering to strict timelines, budgets, and clear, consistent client communication.

Curating Local Art Collection for Each Office

As each office was ready to begin the art selection process, the dedicated team met with an office representative to detail the office size, artwork locations, and renovation timeline.

For the focal locations in each office, curators researched and proposed commissioned concepts from local artists whose works told an authentic community story.

For non-focal areas, the curators proposed a variety of options from the group of ‘brand ambassador’ artists whose work fit the brand’s voice, interior aesthetic, and budget parameters.

Sourcing and Art Commission Supervision

Indiewalls project managers handled all the logistics of custom art commissions and procurement of:

  • Hand-painted murals

  • Fiber art

  • Sculpture

  • Paintings

  • Photography

  • Licensed Prints

In-House Print Production and Framing

To ensure the highest print quality and frame durability at scale, all production is handled at our in-house facility in Brooklyn, NY. This allowed us to maintain strict oversight over every detail while remaining flexible to incorporate new and creative ideas for Allspring.

Our range of printers and mouldings offered diverse options for substrates, mounting, and framing techniques, tailored to meet Allspring’s specific needs.

Freight and Installation for All 20 Offices

The project managers synchronized the delivery and installation of each office’s art collection with its construction timeline, ensuring streamlined installations and eliminating storage costs.

Telling the Story and Inspiring Employees

Each artwork in the collection tells a unique story, inspired by the artist’s vision and creative journey.

To share this with Allspring employees, printed brochures feature detailed floor plans that highlight the locations of the artwork, along with insightful information about each piece and the artist behind it.
