I created the first collage from MetroCards (NYC subway tickets) more than 10 years ago, in 2002. Since then I have much improved my technique and today my artworks resemble dimensional mosaics with high-gloss finishes. Yet they are just a form of recycle art. In a way, my art cleans up New York’s subway stations. What are just old, expired MetroCards to some, are desirable art supplies to me. I collect them wherever I find them. Most of the motives I create are directly tied to the city. They depict landmarks, objects, personalities, and typography, and all have one thing in common: The medium lends my body of work a common visual language while forcing each piece to be one-of-a-kind.
